Bending trim on the job

A portable siding and trim brake is the first big tool most crews buy. Compare Van Mark Mark I, Mark II, Metal Master and Industrial models on the siding and trim bending brakes page. Stands, coil cradles and slitter knives are under brake stands, legs and add-ons.

Standing seam detail work

WUKO tools make the folds a brake can’t reach: hems on the roof, seams around curves and panel ends at the ridge. The WUKO tools page covers the Uber Bender, Duo Bender, seaming pliers and the Clipper and Cutter shears.

Hand seamers and snips

Every installer’s bucket needs hand seamers and a set of snips. Malco tools include 3″, 5″ and 6″ hand seamers, offset aviation snips and long-cut aluminum snips. BESSEY, Channellock and Midwest Tool snips are in the catalog too.

Power tools and machines

For double-lock seams, see power seamers. To form your own panels or gutters, start with metal roofing machines.

Buying advice

  • Size the brake to the longest piece you bend most often. A shorter brake is lighter to carry and set up.
  • Check the brake’s rated capacity for the metal and gauge you work with. Aluminum and steel ratings differ.
  • Match the hand seamer jaw width to the job: narrow jaws for tight work, wide jaws for long straight folds.
  • Buy left- and right-cut snips as a pair, and keep a straight-cut snip for long cuts in coil.
  • Plan the trim before the tools. The trim and accessory estimator lists the pieces a roof needs.

Questions

Can I see a brake before I buy it?

Call ahead and ask which models are on the floor in New Brunswick. Bring a scrap of the coil you bend most so you can try it.

Do you have parts for Van Mark brakes?

Ask us. Bring the model and serial number and we’ll check what we can get.

Can I buy a tool and take it home today?

If it’s in stock, yes, Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Check the stock status on the product page or call first.

Do you sell tools to homeowners?

Yes. The site is written for contractors, but anyone can buy from the catalog.
