About this product

The Malco S2R is a 3″ straight-handled hand seamer that roofers, HVAC techs and siding crews use to bend, flatten and close hems and seams, especially on narrow flanges and short returns. It is the compact member of Malco’s forged-jaw seamer family.

The drop-forged, high-impact steel jaws have vee notches every 1/4″ so you can set the bend depth by eye, up to 1-1/4″. Compound leverage gives about a 7:1 ratio, so you get a firm grip on the metal without a lot of squeeze. Malco rates it for 24 gauge mild and galvanized steel, 26 gauge stainless, .035″ aluminum and .023″ copper. RedLine handles have a one-hand latch and a non-slip cushion insert, the metal handle frames will not collapse, and the tool is nickel plated. A replacement spring (part 5018) is available.

Need the same jaw with handles that clear an obstruction? The Malco S3R is the offset version. For wider bends with less buckling, step up to the 6″ Malco S6R, and for painted aluminum the 5″ S5R has zinc jaws that are gentler on the finish. The WUKO and ESE seamers in this catalog cover standing seam work.

Malco backs it with its Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Questions

Straight or offset handles?

The S2R has straight handles. The Malco S3R is the offset-handle version for tight spots and overhead work.

Is it safe on painted metal?

The forged jaws are bare steel; for painted aluminum, the Malco S5R with die-cast zinc jaws is gentler on the finish.
