About this product
The Malco ER3 is a hand-pushed edge roller that bends a flange along the edge of a metal roofing panel or sheet without a brake. It is built for roofers who need to turn up or turn down an edge on a long panel, on the roof or on the bench, such as at rakes, sidewalls or panel ends.
Three roller stations work in a line, so the bend is formed evenly right out to both ends of a straight panel instead of tapering off. A depth gauge on the center station, marked in inches and millimeters, sets all three stations at once, and large knobs lock the setting. The working range is 5/8″ to 4″ deep bends in 29 to 22 gauge steel. The rollers are hardened, and Malco says they are made to last the life of the tool. For curved work, retract and lock the outer stations and adjust the center station on its own; Malco states a 90° leg can be bent on a curve with a radius of 17 feet or more.
Malco’s technique is to start from a straight cut edge and bend in stages of about 10 to 20 degrees per pass with light pressure; a full 90° bend takes at least five passes back and forth. Keep grit and debris off the rollers so they do not scratch painted panels.
For short bends and closing hems, pair it with the Malco S2R, S3R or S6R hand seamers, or the ESE Drip Edge Bender for drips at standing seam panel ends. Malco covers the ER3 with its Limited Lifetime Warranty. It is available from our New Brunswick, NJ warehouse; call (732) 561-4275 to check stock, or add it to your quote.

Questions
How many passes does a 90° bend take?
Malco recommends 10 to 20 degrees per pass with light pressure, so at least five back-and-forth passes for 90°.
Can it bend a curved panel edge?
Yes. Retract the outer stations and use the center station alone; Malco rates a 90° leg on curves of 17 ft radius or larger.
Are the rollers replaceable?
Malco says the rollers are not replaceable and are made to last the life of the tool.
