About this product
Malco’s straight gripped seamer tongs (model SG10) are heavy, all-cast-steel tongs that roofers and sheet metal mechanics use to grip, bend, flatten and hold painted metal. The jaws are covered in non-marring vinyl, so you can work on finished coil and trim without scratching the paint.
The jaws are 3.5″ wide with a 1-1/2″ throat depth. The tool is 9-1/4″ long and weighs 47 oz, about three pounds, which gives it the mass to hold a bend steady. A heavy-duty pivot and vinyl-cushioned handles round it out, and it works with one hand. Malco shows the SG10 with a Made in USA badge.
Malco also makes the S10, the same straight tong with bare precision-ground jaws, and the S11 and SG11 offset versions. Compared with a hand seamer such as the Malco S2R or S6R, seamer tongs are heavier and simpler, without compound leverage, which suits holding and squeezing work more than repeated bending. For painted aluminum bends, the 5″ Malco S5R with zinc jaws is another gentle option, and for standing seams look at the WUKO seaming pliers in this catalog.
Malco covers the SG10 under its Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Questions
Will the tongs scratch painted coil?
The SG10 jaws are covered in non-marring vinyl for painted metal. Keep the grips clean so grit does not mark the finish.
Is there an offset version?
Malco makes offset tongs as the S11 and SG11. Ask us if you need one.
