About this product

The WUKO 1004852 Flat Nose Pliers are sheet metal pliers with broad, flat jaws that roofers and architectural sheet metal mechanics use to grip, fold and square small flanges, tabs, cleats and seam ends. They are the tool for the short folds that a hand seamer is too wide for: closing the end of a standing seam, turning down a tab at a ridge or valley, or tucking a cleat around a drip edge.

WUKO lists the pliers under item 1004852 and shows them as made in Austria. Flat jaws spread the pressure across the fold, which helps you get a clean, straight edge on copper, zinc and aluminum.

The WUKO Round Nose Pliers handle rounded folds and hooks, and the WUKO Large Straight Seaming Pliers and Large Seaming Pliers 45 bent take over for long seams and wide flanges. For bending a full edge on a panel, the WUKO Uber Bender or Duo Bender is quicker. The Malco S2R and S3R hand seamers are another option for wider folds.

A sensible starter kit for standing seam detail work is these flat nose pliers, the round nose pliers, the WUKO 1004837 Standing Seam Opener and a hand seamer.

It is available from our New Brunswick, NJ warehouse; call (732) 561-4275 to check stock, or add it to your quote.

Questions

Flat nose or round nose?

Flat nose pliers make straight, square folds; WUKO Round Nose Pliers form rounded folds and hooks. Many installers carry both.

Will the jaws mark painted metal?

Steel jaws can mark paint if you squeeze hard, so protect painted surfaces or use a non-marring tool such as the Malco SG10 seamer tongs.
