About this product
The WUKO Double Welt Iron is WUKO’s double seaming iron (item 1004993), a hand anvil that standing seam roofers and architectural sheet metal mechanics hold against a seam while they bend and lock it. “Welt” is the German word for seam, and a double welt is the double-lock standing seam common on copper and zinc roofs.
WUKO describes it as an anvil for bending panel profiles. You hold the iron against one side of the seam and dress the metal over it with a seaming hammer or pliers, which gives a crisp, even fold where a seaming machine cannot reach: at eaves, ridges, valleys, around penetrations and at panel ends. The iron is made in Germany. Ask us to check it against your seam height and profile before you order, so the working faces suit the seam you are folding.
WUKO also makes a seaming anvil with a blade end (item 1005008). For curved seams, look at the WUKO Seaming Iron for Curves; for opening a closed seam, the WUKO 1004837 Standing Seam Opener; and for closing single-lock seams along a run, the WUKO Lock’n’Roller. The ESE Finish Hand Seamer 180 Degree and the ESE K9 Double Lock Power Seamer handle double-lock seams on longer runs.

What is a double welt?
It is the double-lock standing seam, folded twice. The iron gives you a solid surface to fold against by hand.
