About this product
The Malco M12A is the Andy Classic 12″ pattern snip, a long-bladed shear that siding and trim contractors use for straight cuts and mild curves in vinyl siding, J-channel, aluminum trim coil, copper and light sheet metal. “Aluminum” in the listing refers to its gray aluminum handle frame, not to what it cuts.
Malco rates it for .055″ vinyl, .035″ aluminum, .023″ copper, 24 gauge mild and galvanized steel and 26 gauge stainless, and it will cut more than one layer at a time. The high-carbon steel blades are inset into the frame and pressure-fit, so you can replace them in the field (replacement blade M12ARB) instead of buying a new snip. Each stroke takes a 3″ bite, the snip weighs 17 oz, and it keeps the original Andy Classic handle loops. Malco shows it with a Made in USA badge.
The Malco M12NG is the same 12″ length with comfort grips, a slimmer nose and a larger handle; the Malco M14N is the 14″ Andy with a 3-1/4″ cut for longer strokes. For heavier steel or tight curves, switch to an aviation snip such as the Malco AV3.
Malco covers it under its Limited Lifetime Warranty. It pairs naturally with Aluminum Coil and a Van Mark brake for trim work.
