About this product

Zinc sheet is flat titanium zinc for architectural sheet metal contractors who need full pieces for flashings, wall cladding panels, parapet caps, dormers and custom details, where cutting from a flat sheet is easier than unrolling coil.

Each sheet is 39.4″ x 120″, that is 1000 mm wide by 10′ long, listed in 0.7 mm and 0.8 mm. The old listing showed “7mm” and “8mm”; the decimal point was missing. RHEINZINK, one of the major zinc producers, rolls its prePATINA blue-grey and graphite-grey zinc at these thicknesses to EN 988 and ASTM B69, and notes that the graphite-grey contains more copper and can take on a slightly greenish tone.

Plan for zinc’s working rules. RHEINZINK’s processing guide calls for warming the work area when the metal is below 10°C (50°F) before bending or seaming, rules out open flames, and caps heating at 80°C. It also stresses ventilation under the zinc, because a back side that stays damp and warm without air movement can corrode. Lay out and mark sheets with the WUKO Scribe Plate, cut with aviation snips such as the Malco AV3, and fold short flanges with WUKO benders or a Malco hand seamer. For long runs of trim or panels, Zinc Coil in 19.7″ and 39.4″ widths may be the better buy.

It is available from our New Brunswick, NJ warehouse; call (732) 561-4275 to check stock, or add it to your quote.

Questions

Are the sheets 7 mm thick?

No. The old listing was missing the decimal point; the thicknesses are 0.7 mm and 0.8 mm.

Can zinc go directly on the deck?

RHEINZINK stresses ventilation under the zinc because trapped moisture can corrode the back side. Follow the zinc maker's build-up details for your roof.

Do you have zinc coil too?

Yes, Zinc Coil comes in 19.7" and 39.4" widths in the same thicknesses.
