Snow slides off metal roofs in sheets. Snow guards hold it on the roof until it melts, which protects gutters, walkways, cars and people below. We carry AceClamp non-penetrating clamps.

AceClamp clamps in the catalog
- AceClamp A2, a non-penetrating standing seam clamp with a sliding pin instead of set screws, so tightening doesn’t scrape the paint.
- A2N for nail-down, fastener-flange panels.
- A2Nw for wider nail-down panels.
- AceClamp ML, a standing seam clamp that attaches without rotating set screws.
The clamps are aluminum and stainless. Because they don’t drill through the panel, they help protect the panel and its finish warranty.
Layout matters
How many guards a roof needs, and where, depends on the roof pitch, the panel length, the snow load and the seam. Too few guards can fail under load. Ask the manufacturer for a layout for your roof, and send us the result so we can quote the parts. We don’t make engineering calculations for snow loads.
What to send for a layout
- Roof pitch and a simple roof plan with dimensions.
- Panel profile, seam height and panel length from eave to ridge.
- The job address, so the snow load can be looked up.
- Doors, walkways, gutters and lower roofs that need protection.
Installing
- Use the clamp made for your seam profile.
- Tighten to the manufacturer’s torque.
- Install guards before the first snow, not after a slide has damaged a gutter.
- Keep rows straight and lined up with the layout drawing.
Questions
Which AceClamp fits my roof?
Tell us the panel profile and seam height. The A2 and ML fit standing seam. The A2N and A2Nw fit nail-down panels.
Do non-penetrating clamps hold as well as screwed guards?
Each clamp has a rated holding value when installed as the maker specifies. The layout uses that value, so follow it.
Can I add snow guards to an existing roof?
Yes. Non-penetrating clamps attach to existing seams without drilling.
Where do snow guards go?
Usually in rows above doors, walkways, gutters and lower roofs. The layout sets the exact rows and spacing.
Do snow guards come in colors?
Ask us. Bring the roof color name and we’ll check what’s available.
