What’s in the catalog
- Pan clip head screws for fastening standing seam clips. The flat pancake head sits low so it doesn’t print through the panel.
- Pan clip SD MT drilling low screws, a self-drilling, low-profile version for clips.
- Color rivets for fastening trim and flashing where a fastener shows.
- Black rivets for dark trim and details.
Concealed and exposed fasteners
Concealed fasteners sit under the panel. On standing seam roofs, they hold the clips and never see the weather. Exposed fasteners go through the face of the panel into the structure below. They need a sealing washer, and they are the norm on exposed fastener panels.
Buying advice
- Length. The screw has to bite into the deck or purlin by the amount the panel maker specifies.
- Drill point. Wood deck and steel purlins take different points. Tell us what you are fastening into.
- Coating. Near the coast, ask about stainless or heavier coatings.
- Rivets. Match the rivet metal to the trim. Use aluminum rivets on aluminum trim, and set them with a hand riveter such as the Malco CR18.
- Driving. Drive screws square to the panel and snug, not crushed. Over-driven and crooked screws are a common cause of leaks.
Questions
Which screw holds standing seam clips?
A pancake-head clip screw, sized to the deck. Tell us the clip and the deck type.
Do you have rivets in my coil color?
Color rivets are in the catalog. Give us the coil color name so we can check for a match.
How many screws do I need?
Count the clips and multiply by the screws each clip takes. The trim and accessory estimator does the math.
Do I need stainless screws near the shore?
Ask us. Salt air shortens the life of plated screws, so stainless or a heavier coating is worth it close to the ocean.
Can I reuse exposed fastener screws?
Don’t. The sealing washer won’t seal again properly once it has been compressed.
