About this product

Black rivets are painted blind rivets, the kind set from one side with a hand riveter, used by roofers, gutter installers and siding crews to join trim, flashing, end caps and laps on black or dark bronze metal. The painted head blends into the finish so the joint does not show the way a bright aluminum rivet head would.

Because a blind rivet is set from the front, it is the go-to fastener for closing a seam or tying two pieces of trim together when you cannot reach the back side. Choose a rivet body that matches the metal you are joining to avoid galvanic corrosion: aluminum rivets for aluminum trim and coil, and the right alloy for copper or steel work. Grip range should match the total thickness of the pieces being joined; tell us the material and gauges and we will help you pick the size.

Set them with the Malco Hand Riveter Economy CR18 in the catalog, or any standard blind rivet tool sized for the rivet diameter. For trim jobs these rivets pair naturally with black or dark aluminum from our Aluminum Coil and Aluminum Sheet lines, Geocell or Adseal sealant behind lapped joints, and Sherwin-Williams Ready Match Touch Up for any marks left on the panel.

If your trim is a color other than black, ask us about matching painted rivets before you order.
