Van Mark 3578 – Trim-A-Slitter Booster Block

A Trim-A-Slitter cuts by running coil or sheet between pairs of hardened knives mounted on two arbor shafts. The 3578 Booster Block is a support that fits under the arbors and helps keep the shafts in alignment, which Van Mark says increases the slitter’s slitting capacity. It is one of the parts Van Mark offers for setting a slitter up to handle heavier gauge metals.

Van Mark lists the 3578 for C model slitters, the versions with 2″ arbor shafts, on 24″, 36″ and 48″ machines, and recommends using two. It is sold one per package. The 48″ S48CB slitter already includes two booster blocks from the factory. B model slitters with 1.5″ arbors do not take this part.

Booster blocks work alongside the Capacity Booster, which installs with a set of slitting knives to keep the arbors from spreading apart during a cut; the two can be used together on C model slitters. For perforating steel, Van Mark also calls for its heavy-duty motor kit.

Rated Trim-A-Slitter slitting capacities are .040″ aluminum, 24 gauge galvanized or Grade D painted steel, 24 oz roofing copper and .040″ zinc.
