Van Mark – Quickscore

Scoring coil freehand with a utility knife against the brake is quick, but it is hard to keep the line straight over a long piece, and a slipped blade cuts into the brake’s vinyl strip and stainless steel edge. The Van Mark QuickScore puts the blade in a tool that tracks along the brake, so the score runs straight and stays away from those parts.

To use it, grip the two handles and squeeze. As the grip tightens, a standard utility knife blade engages and scores the material, while Van Mark’s AccuTrack system of four independent tracking wheels keeps the tool aligned with the brake and prevents slip-offs and wobble. The score lands at the snap-off point used for hemming: 3/4″ on Mark I Series brakes and 5/8″ on the Mark II TrimMaster and Metal Master 20. Snap the strip off along the score and the edge is ready for the hem.

Van Mark lists the QuickScore for its current cam-locking brakes: Mark I Series, Mark II TrimMaster and Heavy Duty, Metal Master 20 and Heavy Duty, Mark IV Industrial TrimMaster and Industrial Metal Master 20EZ. It is not listed for the Trim-A-Brake II. For older brakes, call Van Mark to check fit. Most hardware is standard nuts and bolts.
