About this product
This StanGroup Pittsburgh Lock Seamer is a hand-held electric seam closer. HVAC installers and duct shops use it to fold the flange of a Pittsburgh lock down over the pocket instead of hammering it, at the bench or on site. It also closes Pittsburgh seams on tube, doors and panels in general sheet metal work.
StanGroup offers it in two versions by thickness: the FS2420 for 24 to 20 gauge and the FS2018 for 20 to 18 gauge. Speed is adjustable and tops 30 ft/min. It follows straight seams and radial seams on curved parts with no changeover, and it sets itself to the sheet thickness within its range, with manual adjustment available for fine tuning. The infeed keeps the seam continuous and tight, and StanGroup describes the tool as quiet in use. It runs on standard 110 V power.
A seam closed by machine comes out straighter and smoother than one closed with a hammer, and StanGroup says no special skill is needed to run it. That makes it useful for crews closing a lot of Pittsburgh seams on rectangular duct and fittings.
To form the Pittsburgh lock in the first place, see the Pittsburgh Lock Forming Machine or the S-cleat C-drive locking pin Pittsburgh and Seam Lock Forming Machine. For lighter work up to 20 gauge, the catalog lists a second StanGroup Pittsburgh Lock Seamer. For short seams and corners by hand, the Malco S2R 3 Inch Hand Seamer is also available.
It is available from our New Brunswick, NJ warehouse; call (732) 561-4275 to check stock, or add it to your quote.
