The StanGroup Industrial Gang Metal Slitter cuts wide coil into several narrower strips in one pass. Supply yards, trim and gutter shops and panel makers use a gang slitter to turn full-width coil into the strip widths their brakes, gutter machines and roll formers take, instead of buying every width pre-slit.
StanGroup builds it for material up to 55″ wide and supplies it with four pairs of slitting blades. Top and bottom shafts are 3.35″ in diameter and both are supported by bearings, which keeps them steady on heavier gauges. Capacity runs from 16 to 30 gauge, with the heavy end depending on how many cuts you take at once. StanGroup quotes about 150 ft/min with the standard 3 HP single-phase motor at 220 V and 20 amps; three-phase 220 V motors and other speeds are offered, and its spec table lists a VFD and a chain drive, with controls on the electric box and a foot pedal. The frame takes about 68″ x 32″ of floor and stands 53″ high.
The Sheet metal perforation machine AG panel perforator shares the 55″ width and 3.35″ shafts, and its dies can be swapped for slitting rollers. To feed the slitter, use a coil stand such as the Manual Decoiler 51/8 for 51″ coil or the ESE Extra Wide Decoiler for 48″, and cut strips to length on the Industrial manual sheet metal guillotine shear HS-52. Aluminum Coil and Steel Coil are the usual feed stock.
