The 8’6″ Mark I Series (Van Mark model M8-S) is a light-duty portable brake for aluminum trim. It bends 8-foot pieces for fascia, frieze board and soffit returns in one pass, and it weighs 101 lb, light enough for a two-person carry.

Van Mark builds the Mark I for siding, window, door and trim work. Its cam-lock, introduced with this series in 1983, clamps the coil with an aluminum cam and UHMW polyethylene wedge, and four castings hold the sheet along its length. The traditional hinge auto-measures a 3/4″ hem for traditional J-channel pockets, and the brake bends up to 180 degrees, so hemmed drip edges and folded returns are no problem. The full-loop bending handle has several contact points, which Van Mark recommends for pieces 8 feet and longer.

Know the limits before you buy. Van Mark rates the Mark I for .027″ 3003-H14 aluminum, 29 gauge painted and galvanized steel, 24 oz soft copper, .032″ soft zinc and 29 gauge 304L stainless. If you bend .032″ coil or 26 gauge steel regularly, a Mark II TrimMaster is the better fit.
