The 8’6″ Metal Master 20 Heavy-Duty, Van Mark model MM861, is a deep-throat brake for residential roofers and exterior contractors who work in steel as well as aluminum. It bends a full 8-foot piece, and its 20″ throat reaches well into wide stock.

Good jobs for this brake include wide sidewall and headwall flashings, gable and rake trim in 26 gauge painted steel, wide drip edge, low-slope edge metal, and wide fascia and frieze wraps in .032″ aluminum. Van Mark rates the Heavy-Duty grade for 26 gauge Grade D painted and galvanized steel, .032″ 3003-H14 aluminum, 32 oz soft copper, .040″ soft zinc and 26 gauge 304L stainless.

Four 60 Series castings clamp the sheet through Van Mark’s cam-lock system, and dual base rails resist twisting. The Power Lock bar holds the full bending edge to keep painted panels flat and gives a 150-degree bending radius. The POWERslot hinge sets a 5/8″ hem automatically. Both full-loop handles are anodized; the bending handle connects to the hinge at several points so one person can bend an 8-foot piece evenly.

The MM861 weighs 138 lb. Stands are sold separately, and the 20″ throat needs Van Mark’s 20″ stands, such as the UniStand EZ-GO USA2EZ or the UniLeg 2.
