About this product

The Mark I Series is the brake that introduced Van Mark’s cam-locking system in 1983, and Van Mark sells it today as a light-duty portable brake for siding, window, door and trim work. This listing is the short bench-size model, which Van Mark builds at 2’0″ long (model M2-S).

A two-foot brake earns its place in the trailer for small parts: window sill and head flashings, short returns, corner caps, outlet and light-block trim, and the odd custom piece that does not justify setting up a full-length brake. At 32 lb, it is easy to carry to wherever the work is.

It works like its longer siblings. The cam-lock clamps the coil, two castings hold the sheet, and the traditional hinge auto-measures a 3/4″ hem, the size used for traditional J-channel pockets. The brake bends up to 180 degrees for hemmed edges. The throat is 14″.

Van Mark capacity ratings for the Mark I, based on standard coil and sheet: .027″ aluminum (3003-H14), 29 gauge painted and galvanized steel, 24 oz soft copper, .032″ soft zinc and 29 gauge 304L stainless. That covers residential trim coil; for heavier metal, step up to a Mark II TrimMaster or one of the industrial brakes.

Bend it from our Aluminum Coil and finish the hems with a Malco hand seamer. It is available from our New Brunswick, NJ warehouse; call (732) 561-4275 to check stock, or add it to your quote.
