About this product

The StanGroup TDFC Lock & Cleats Former is a two-sided roll former for duct shops that build rectangular duct with a TDF or TDC integral flange. One side forms the flange straight onto the edge of the duct sheet; the other forms the cleats that clamp two flanged sections together. Without it, each duct end needs separate flange pieces cut, fitted with corners and fastened with screws or welds, which takes skilled labor and time.

The flange head has 15 forming passes and the cleat head 14, running at up to about 45 ft/min. StanGroup lists 18 to 26 gauge galvanized or stainless for the flange and 22 gauge for the cleat. The flange tooling is convertible: changing two forming rollers switches between a standard flat flange and a grooved flange, which is stiffer because of its rib and leaves room for sealant or adhesive. An entrance slitter on the cleat side turns long leftover strips of sufficient width into cleat stock. The flange is shaped to take the standard corners made for TDC and TDF systems.

It runs on a 5 HP motor with a VFD on 220 V three-phase power. The machine measures about 103″ x 25″ x 43″ and weighs about 2,100 lb.

It is the first step in a TDFC duct line: after forming, the Pneumatic TDFC Corner Fixing Machine inserts and crimps the corners and the TDFC Air Brake folds the panel into duct. The Square Duct Beading Machine for HVAC adds stiffening beads to large panels, and Steel Coil and Steel Sheet supply the material.

It is available from our New Brunswick, NJ warehouse; call (732) 561-4275 to check stock, or add it to your quote.

Questions

Can it make both flat and grooved flanges?

Yes. Changing two forming rollers switches between a standard flat flange and a grooved flange.

Can I use leftover strip for cleats?
