About this product

The StanGroup S-cleat C-drive locking pin Pittsburgh and Seam Lock Forming Machine puts four common HVAC duct profiles on one compact frame. Smaller duct shops and mechanical contractors use it to make both the longitudinal locks and the transverse connectors for their duct without buying a separate cleat machine and lockformer.

The four profiles are:

  • S cleat, which slides over the overlapping edges of two duct sections and is used together with a drive cleat
  • C locking pin (drive cleat), with an entrance slitter so strip of varying width can be fed
  • Pittsburgh lock for the corner seams of square and rectangular duct
  • seam lock for round duct

StanGroup lists a capacity of 18 to 24 gauge (0.5 to 1.2 mm), 8 forming roller pairs in three rows and a forming speed of 36 ft/min. The standard motor is 220 V, and a 3 HP (2.2 kW) 220 to 240 V three-phase motor is offered as an option. It measures 55″ x 24″ and 36″ high (1400 x 600 x 900 mm) and weighs about 900 lb, small enough to move around the shop as the work changes.

For elbow cheeks, the Pittsburgh S-cleat C-drive machine plus Flanger attachment adds a flanger to the same set of profiles. Pittsburgh seams can be closed with the Pittsburgh Lock Seamer, and the Pittsburgh Lock Forming Machine adds hem and locking pin profiles. On the widest duct, the Standing S-cleat Rail Forming Machine makes a stiffer standing S cleat. Feed it with Steel Coil slit to strip.

Questions

How does it differ from the flanger model?

The flanger model adds a flanger that turns male flanges on elbow cheeks and is rated 18 to 26 gauge; this machine forms the four main profiles without it, in 18 to 24 gauge.

Can I feed odd-width strip for drive cleat?

Yes. The drive cleat head has an entrance slitter, so strip of different widths can be fed.
