The ESE K9 Double Lock Power Seamer is an electric seaming machine that rides along a standing seam on the roof and folds it into a double lock in a single pass. Roofers installing mechanically seamed panels use it in place of long runs of hand seaming, keeping the seam consistent from eave to ridge.
ESE, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, builds the K9 in the USA for seams 1″ or 1-1/2″ high, chosen by an adjustable height setting. It seams about 30 ft per minute, weighs 40 lb and draws 7 amps at 115 V single phase. ESE lists capacity as 24 gauge steel in grades C and D (grade E is too hard, and COR-TEN and Everlast G90 are not compatible), .032″ aluminum, or .040″ with a washer shipped with the seamer, and 20 oz copper. It works on painted or unpainted material, and its spring-loaded handle swings out of the way. ESE also notes it is not compatible with Schlebach or Liberty panels.
The seam has to be started by hand: ESE’s procedure is to form the first 16″ with its 001 first-stage hand seamer and the first 8″ with the 099 finish seamer, then set the K9 on the seam and clamp it down. The ESE Finish Hand Seamer 180 Degree in this catalog is that 099-series tool. Optional rolls convert the K9 to single lock, though a converted unit seams in one direction only.

No. ESE lists COR-TEN and Everlast G90 as not compatible, and grade E steel as too hard.
Can it do single-lock seams?
