About this product
DuPont Tyvek Protec PSU is a peel-and-stick roof underlayment that roofers lay on plywood or OSB decks before metal panels, shingles, tile or shakes go on. It is built for hot locations such as under metal roofing, where DuPont rates it for service temperatures up to 240°F, and its synthetic top facer gives crews a slip-resistant surface on steep slopes.
Each roll is 36″ wide by 67′ long and about 50 mils thick, with a rubberized-asphalt adhesive under a split release liner so you can position the sheet and peel one half at a time. DuPont lists it for slopes of 2:12 and steeper, installation between 40°F and 120°F, and up to six months of UV exposure before the roof covering goes on. Its ICC-ES evaluation report, ESR-5378, recognizes it as an alternative to ASTM D226 felt and as an ice barrier; that report limits it to plywood or OSB decks, requires the roof covering to be fastened through it, and calls for a ventilated attic.
Compared with Tyvek Protec 120, which is nailed down in 48″ x 250′ rolls and is not listed as an ice barrier, PSU self-seals around fasteners and can cover eaves and valleys. You can use it over the whole deck or combine it with Protec 120 in the field, as your local code and roofing manufacturer allow. It is a natural fit under Steel Coil and Aluminum Coil standing seam panels fastened with Standing Seam Fixed or Floating Clips.
DuPont backs it with a 30-Year Limited Warranty for builders and professional installers on product bought and installed in the US after February 29, 2024.

Questions
Can it go under a metal roof?
Yes. DuPont designs it for high-heat uses such as metal roofing and rates it for service temperatures up to 240°F.
How long can it stay exposed before the roof goes on?
DuPont allows up to six months of UV exposure. Leaving it exposed longer than the product sheet allows can void the DuPont warranty.
Can I install it in cold weather?
DuPont lists an installation range of 40°F to 120°F, and the ICC-ES report requires the air and deck to be at least 40°F.
