About this product
The JS Design Metal Panel Hemming Tool is a hand tool for bending the ends of metal building panels in the field, on the roof or at the eave, where a brake is not practical. Roofers use it to hem the low side of a panel and to bend or close the high side, so panel ends are finished neatly instead of being left as raw cut edges. This listing is the 20″ model.
The tool is steel rather than aluminum, plated with zinc chromate to resist rust, and fitted with a rubber-gripped handle. Its jaw has a 1/8″ gap and a 1-1/2″ depth, so the panel edge slides in and is folded over in one controlled motion. JS Design pitches its steel tools as the answer to rusty panel ends, sloppy or uneven hems and flimsy aluminum hemming tools, and the maker makes several widths to suit different panels.
Choose the width to match the panel: measure the flat you need to bend and check it with us before ordering. For other edge work, the Malco ER3 3-Station Edge Roller forms long edge bends along roofing panels, and Malco and ESE hand seamers handle short bends and closing hems. The WUKO Duo Bender and Uber Bender in the catalog are hand flange benders for longer straight flanges.
