About this product

The ESE Extra Wide Decoiler is the widest coil stand in ESE’s range, for shops and crews that need to pay off coil up to 48″ wide into a brake, shear, slitter or roll former. Like the other ESE decoilers, it is built in the USA by Engineered Sheet-metal Equipment of Coatesville, Pennsylvania.

ESE rates it for 5,000 lb static load and a 38″ maximum outside diameter. The extra width comes from a longer frame and core: the frame is 63″ long with a 61″ shaft, against 46″ on the Standard and Heavy Duty models, while the 35.5″ width and 27″ frame height stay the same. The core centerline sits at 30″, or 32.5″ with the core expanded. Its six-prong core grips coil IDs from 15″ to 21″, a dual locking spider keeps it centered, and friction brakes stop the coil from running on. The decoiler weighs 232 lb in total, 128 lb of it in the core, so plan on a forklift for setting coil as ESE’s setup guide describes.

A 48″ coil on this stand fits the 55″ Industrial Gang Metal Slitter and the 52″ bed of the Industrial manual sheet metal guillotine shear HS-52. For narrower coil at the same capacity, the ESE Decoiler Heavy Duty is the 34″ version. Load it with Aluminum Coil or Steel Coil in full width.

Questions

How much floor space does it need?

ESE lists it at 63" long (61" shaft) by 35.5" wide, with the top of the frame at 27".
