About this product

This item covers the clip hardware for snap-lock standing seam roofs, the panel system where the female leg of each panel snaps over the male leg of the one before it instead of being seamed with a tool. Roofing contractors use it on residential and light commercial roofs over a solid deck, where a clean seam with no exposed screws is the goal.

In a snap-lock system the clip is the only thing holding the panel down, so the clip style has to match the panel’s seam height and leg shape. Before you order, tell us the panel profile (for example 1″ or 1-1/2″ seam), the panel width and the metal, and we will confirm the right part. Spacing comes from the panel maker’s installation instructions and the wind design for the roof.

Snap-lock seams go together without a seamer, which saves labor compared with mechanically seamed panels. On low slopes or where the roof sees heavy snow, many designers move to a double-lock mechanical seam instead; ask about the ESE K9 Double Lock Power Seamer if your project calls for it. Snap-lock clips let the panel move with temperature, so a separate floating clip is not part of this system; the Standing Seam Floating Clip is for mechanically seamed panels.

Fasten the clips with Pan Clip Head Screws or Pan Clip SD MT Drilling Low screws, and add Snaplock Clips, Butyl Tape and Tyvek Protec underlayment to complete the roof.

Questions

Is this the panel or the clip?

It is listed in the clips category. Call before ordering and we will confirm the exact part and the panel profile it fits.

Do snap-lock panels need a seaming tool?

No. The panels snap together by hand or with a rubber mallet. Mechanically seamed double-lock panels need a seamer such as the ESE K9 Double Lock Power Seamer.
