About this product

This fixed clip is a concealed anchor for standing seam metal roofs, used by roofers to tie each panel to the deck without putting a single screw through the finished surface. It suits shorter panel runs, and the anchored zone of longer panels where the designer wants the panel held in one position.

The clip base screws to the sheathing and the tab engages the panel leg inside the seam. Once the next panel is snapped or seamed over it, the clip is hidden. A fixed clip does not let the panel move, so when a run is long enough that the metal will grow and shrink noticeably with temperature, the rest of the run should use the Standing Seam Floating Clip. Spacing, screw count and the fixed-zone location all come from the panel maker’s installation guide.

Clips have to fit the panel, so give us the profile, seam height and panel material before ordering. Low, flat pancake-head screws keep the clip base from pushing up into the panel: use Pan Clip Head Screws on wood decks and Pan Clip SD MT Drilling Low screws on steel. To seal end laps and transitions, add Butyl Tape, and lay Tyvek Protec 120 or Tyvek Protec PSU underlayment before the panels go down.

If you are not sure whether the roof needs fixed clips, floating clips or a mix, send us the panel length and profile and we will help you sort it out.

Questions

Can I use fixed clips on the whole roof?

On short panel runs that is common. On long runs, the panel maker's guide usually calls for a fixed zone plus floating clips so the panels can expand and contract.

Will the clip show through the panel?

Use low-profile pancake-head screws such as Pan Clip Head Screws so nothing pushes up under the pan.
