About this product

Snaplock clips are the hidden hold-downs roofers use to attach snap-lock standing seam panels to a solid roof deck. The clip hooks over the male leg of one panel and is screwed to the sheathing; the female leg of the next panel then snaps down over both, so no fastener ever passes through the painted face of the metal.

Because the clip sits inside the seam, it has to suit the panel you are installing. Tell us the profile, seam height and metal (aluminum, steel or copper) and we will match clips to it. Clip spacing comes from the panel maker’s installation guide and the wind design for the building, so follow those numbers rather than a rule of thumb, and tighten the spacing near eaves, rakes and ridges where the guide calls for it.

Snap-lock roofs do not use separate floating clips. As clip maker SFS explains, the snap-lock clip grips the leg without pinning it, so the panel can still move with temperature. If you are installing mechanically seamed panels on long runs, the Standing Seam Floating Clip is the expansion option instead. For fastening, pair the clips with Pan Clip Head Screws on wood decks or Pan Clip SD MT Drilling Low screws where you are driving into steel; both keep a flat head under the panel so it does not show through.

A typical snap-lock roof order also includes Tyvek Protec underlayment, Butyl Tape and Sherwin-Williams Ready Match Touch Up for install scratches.
