Van Mark’s Industrial Trim-A-Slitter Combo, model SCI48, replaces snips, shears and nibblers for cutting coil and sheet to width. It is aimed at roofing and metal building contractors who want clean, factory-style edges on site, and it does three jobs on one arbor: slitting, rib forming and, with options, perforating.

How you set the knives decides what it does. Van Mark shows these setups:

• One slit, or two slits at once with the four standard knives
• One slit and one rib at the same time (extra knives needed)
• One rib facing up or facing down
• Two ribs at once, facing up (extra knives needed)

A rib adds a slight raised line that stiffens the metal, reduces ripples and gives wide fascia and frieze board a shadow line. For perforating, Van Mark offers a perforator die set that makes a lanced perforation with about 3.3 square inches of net free area per running foot; with the heavy-duty motor upgrade it handles up to .032″ aluminum, copper and 24, 26 and 29 gauge painted steel.

Brass-tipped set screws hold the knives without marring the arbor, a built-in tape rule keeps knife positions accurate, and the folding feed table has roller guides. The combo includes a 110-volt motor, UniStand EZ and a 6-foot roller exit table; standard and heavy-duty 220-volt motors are also available. It has a 48″ length, 2″ arbor and weighs 265 lb.
