How to choose
Aluminum or steel
Aluminum doesn’t rust, which makes it the usual pick near the shore. It also moves more with heat, so flat aluminum pans need care against oil canning. Steel on a Galvalume substrate is stiffer and usually costs less. Many finish warranties limit steel close to salt water, so tell us if the job is near the ocean.
Gauge
.032″ aluminum is a common gauge for residential standing seam and heavier flashing. Step up to .040″ or .050″ for wider pans, commercial work and coastal jobs, where the extra stiffness helps keep panels flat. In steel, 24 gauge is the usual standing seam gauge. Lighter 26 gauge is common for exposed fastener panels.
Paint system
Kynar 500 (PVDF) holds its color and resists chalking longer than SMP or polyester, and it carries the longer finish warranty. Compare the options in our guide to Kynar, SMP and polyester paint. For the harshest exposures, look at film-laminated Tedlar PVF.
Full coil or processed
A full coil used as it comes costs less per pound than coil cut down for you. If you need narrow widths or set lengths, ask about coil slitting and cut-to-length coil. Any processing charge shows on your quote.

Questions
Can I see the colors before I order?
Yes. The metal roofing color chart shows the Everlast Metals and Progressive Metals colors. Screen colors are never exact, so ask to see a sample at the counter.
What finish warranty comes with Kynar coil?

Do you sell flat sheet as well as coil?
Yes. Aluminum and steel flat sheet are in the catalog next to the coil, along with copper and zinc sheet. Ask which sizes are in stock today.
Can you match a color from another supplier?
Bring a sample or the color name. We’ll check it against the charts we carry and tell you the closest match before you buy.
How do I order coil for a machine I run?
Tell us the machine and the profile in your quote request. We check the coil width and gauge against that profile before we quote.
