About this product

Van Mark’s T1050 is the 10’6″ Trim-A-Brake II, an entry-level brake for exterior remodelers and window installers who need simple, full-length bends without the weight of a cam-lock brake. At 91 lb it is the lightest 10’6″ brake Van Mark makes, which matters when you load and unload it at every job.

Use it for straightforward aluminum trim: window and door capping, fascia covers, rake and frieze trim with basic 90-degree bends, and drip strips. Van Mark rates it for .024″ 3003-H14 aluminum, and it bends up to 130 degrees. If your work calls for hems or detailed profiles, a Mark II TrimMaster is the better tool.

The Trim-A-Brake design dates to 1964 and has changed little since. A patented toggle-lock clamps the coil, and you can load material from either side. The stainless steel edge lets you score aluminum with a utility knife and snap it, and hinge pockets keep the blade from damaging the brake. Material stops give repeat bends without re-measuring, and a non-marring vinyl strip protects the finish. The full-loop handle connects to several points on the hinge for even bends along the full ten feet.

The working pocket is 3/8″ x 13″, the throat is 13-3/8″, and the brake has five castings. Stands are sold separately; see the Steel Folding Legs for Trim-A-Brake and the Van Mark Wheel Kit. It is available from our New Brunswick, NJ warehouse; call (732) 561-4275 to check stock, or add it to your quote.

Questions

Trim-A-Brake II or Mark I?

The Trim-A-Brake II is lighter and suits simple bends in .024" aluminum. The Mark I adds cam-lock clamping, 180-degree bends and .027" aluminum capacity.

Can I score coil on it?

Yes. It has a stainless steel edge for scoring with a utility knife, and hinge pockets protect the brake while you score.
